Witness His Resurrection

1. Simon the Zealot 27th March 2022

Text: Philippians 3:2-16

The list of Jesus’ disciples includes some interesting characters, from fishermen, tax-collectors and Judas who betrayed Jesus. But about one disciple we only know one thing, that he was a Zealot. This Sunday we’re going to look at Simon the Zealot. We’re going to look at what a Zealot is and how Jesus changed Simon’s life, and how he wants to change your life. We’re going to look at the words of another zealot, Paul, and how he calls us to forget the past and strain forward.

2. The Woodworker 3rd April 2022

Text: Matthew 6:16-24

This Sunday we’re going to reflect on an imaginary woodworker who repaired crosses used in Roman crucifixions. All he wanted was a bit of extra money, but one day a man was crucified who was different than the others. In that moment he wonders if his misplaced priorities made him implicit in the death of Jesus! This Sunday we’re going to look at how our priorities can be misplaced. Food and our physical needs can become more important than God. People can become more important than Jesus. And like with the Woodworker, we can love money more than God. Come and discover what it means to have God as your priority in life.

3. Felix’s Big Day 10th April 2022

Text: Mark 11:1-11

The little donkey in the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem seems like an incidental and insignificant detail. But that little donkey reminded God’s people of a particular prophecy about the coming of the Messiah. But Jesus didn’t meet their expectations and the results were terrible. The truth is that often Jesus doesn’t meet our expectations and often our expectations in life don’t align with reality. This Sunday we’re going to look at what we can do when our expectations don’t align with our experiences.

4. The Sealer 15th April 2022 – Good Friday

Text: Matthew 27:62-28:15

The little donkey in the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem seems like an incidental and insignificant detail. But that little donkey reminded God’s people of a particular prophecy about the coming of the Messiah. But Jesus didn’t meet their expectations and the results were terrible. The truth is that often Jesus doesn’t meet our expectations and often our expectations in life don’t align with reality. This Sunday we’re going to look at what we can do when our expectations don’t align with our experiences.

5. Mary Magdalene 17th April 2022 – Easter Sunday

Text: John 20:1-18, 2 Corinthians 5:14-17

We don’t know much about Mary Magdalene, but two things in particular stand out. The first is that she was once possessed by seven demons, and the second is that she was the first person to witness the resurrection of Jesus. This Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus we are going to reflect on how Jesus not only changed Mary’s life, but how he changes our lives. Jesus died for you that you might live for him, that you might live a new life, a life controlled by the love of Christ.
