Christmas 2022 Love Came Down

1. Love is Everything 11th December 2022
Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

According to Christmas movies, and Christmas songs, and Christmas marketing, Christmas is about love. And as Christians we agree, Christmas is when God’s love came down I the person of Jesus Christ. But what is that love like? This Christmas we’re going to look at 1 Corinthians 13. This Sunday we’re going to see that love is everything, that love is better than angelic tongues, spiritual powers, and radical sacrifice. We’re going to see that love means humbling ourselves like Jesus.

2. Love Isn’t Everything 18th December 2022

Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

People often talk about love but then what the do doesn’t seem very loving. Last week we saw that love is everything, that without love nothing matters, but this week we’re going to see that love isn’t everything, that there’s certain things that aren’t loving. If you want to love other people like Jesus loves you, then there are certain things you shouldn’t be doing. This Sunday we’re going to see how we shouldn’t behave at Christmas.

3. Love Is Exhibited 25th December 2022

Text: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

What is love? We use the word a lot but what exactly does it mean? But more importantly what does it look like? Is it ultimately self-serving, or is love defined by patience, kindness and endurance? This Sunday we’re going to see that the love that came down at Christmas was exhibited by Jesus. We’re going to put his love on trial and see the evidence of Jesus’ love for us. This Sunday we’re going to put our love on trial and see if it’s anything like the love of Jesus.

4. Love Is Endless 1st January 2023

Text: 1 Corinthians 13:8-13

In the final sermon in our Christmas series on 1 Corinthians 13 we learn that God’s love is so great because it never ends. We are tempted to love all sorts of things that one day will end, but God’s love for us in Jesus will never end. This Sunday we’re going to look at four things that we love that are only partial or incomplete and which will one day pass away and cease to matter. But what will never pass away, what will always matter, is God’s love for us in Jesus. As we begin a new year may you seek to grow in your appreciation of God’s love for you in Jesus.
