2. Enjoying God’s Generosity in Every Pleasure 1 Thessalonians 5:18 2nd May 2021

We all experience different pleasures during a normal day, whether it’s the smell of freshly brewed coffee, or the sound of magpies carolling, or the warmth of the sun on our face, or a cool breeze at our back. How do we turn those every day pleasures into opportunities to enjoy God’s generosity? This Sunday we’re going to look at how you see God – is God angry or disappointed in you, or does he think of you in a different way? We’re going to look at how every good thing comes from God’s hand, whether it’s the birth of a new baby or your morning cereal. And we’re going to see how you can use every pleasure to thank God for his loving care. You really can enjoy God’s generosity every day.

3. Enjoying God’s Formation in Every Hardship Hebrews 12:1-11 9th May 2021

It makes sense to enjoy God for all the good things he gives us, but what about the hard times when everything seems to go wrong? In this sermon we talk about one of the most revolutionary ways to look at hardship in the Bible, as God’s discipline. Hardship doesn’t mean God is angry at you, or that he doesn’t care, it actually means the exact opposite, that God loves you and cares deeply about you and your spiritual formation. In this sermon we’re going to see how we can enjoy God’s formation in every hardship.

4. Enjoying God’s Kindness in Every Prayer Matthew 6:9-13 16th May 2021

We all face a myriad of different situations and experiences everyday, from interruptions from our kids, to getting stuck in traffic, to losing our cool and saying the wrong thing. How do we enjoy God in all those different moments? In this sermon we’re going to remind ourselves that our Heavenly Father is kind, and he wants us to turn to him in prayer in those moments. We’re going to see how prayer itself is proof of God’s kindness, and how we can use the Lord’s Prayer as a template to pray for all sorts of different circumstances in our normal daily lives.

How do you enjoy God when your life is filled with pain? Maybe you’re grieving the death of a loved one, or you’re ashamed by your sin, or you’re afraid of death. How do you know joy in the midst of sorrow, shame or fear? This Sunday we’re going to look at four stories in the Gospel of Luke where it shows Jesus’ attitude towards the grieving, the shamed, and the afraid. And we’re going to see that Jesus attitude then is the same as his attitude towards you today. And yet God is a God who speaks, and not just to people who lived thousands of years ago, but to you and me today. This Sunday we’re going to look at how God speaks, and how we can communicate with God every day. If you ever wondered if you could have a dialogue with God, come along this Sunday and find out how.

Sometimes getting out of the house to go to church stuff isn’t easy, but every time I’ve forced myself to meet with God’s people I’ve been more blessed than I expected. God works through his people. This Sunday we’re going to look at how we experience God’s joy through Christian fellowship, how God speaks through his people, how God works through his people’s prayers, and how God encourages us through corporate worship. But mostly we’re going to look at how you can enjoy God’s love as you do life together with his people. As the Apostle John says, when we love one another God’s love is perfected in us (1 Jn 4:12).
